The Mule Pull

Wow! This was so cool! On Labor Day every year a little town (pop. 800) hosts a mule pull. Thousands of people gather around to watch as these huge mules and draft horses pull incredible amounts of weight. I would love to share this with all of you because it was so cool. Words can't explain it, so I will let the pictures and the video do the talking.

This video is of the draft horses pulling. This was only a little over 5000 lbs for a team of horses that weighed about 4000 lbs. They got up to 7900 lbs!

Here is a picture of how big these mules were:

Here is a good shot of the draft horses:

And of course we had fun too! Here is a picture of the local culture:

And Tobie getting to ride a paint (my girls are dreaming of owning a black and white paint, so this was very special):

I love Draft Horse Pulls!! We have one here every year, during out County Fair. My girls wanted to watch the whole thing, but alas, it was not meant to be this year, because I had to work. Hopefully next year!!

My girls are too, dreaming of owning a horse, though they are not particular as to the color.

You have a very nice blog!! Hope you will find time to stop by mine someday!!

Nice meeting you!!

Where was this pull? The guy in the picture is a friend of mine. His name is Eric Vick. He is now the pastor of Arbor Baptist Church. http://arborbaptistchurch.org/

I found your site when I was searching for mule pulls.

Thanks,

Clint Cagle

Small world! We were in Ider, AL. Not too far from Nashville. It was so much fun. We have lived many places, but AL was my favorite!
